Social and Economic Values This 8 page paper considers the value in economic terms as well as social, political and cultural perspectives of different types of regeneration projects to develop tourist attractions and generate incomes for the locality. To illustrate this the examples of The Wigan Pier Experience, Wigan and the Lowry Centre, Leeds, are used. The paper considers why they may be successfully, and the role they play in a modern society, with the economic impact as a side effect of this success. This includes consideration of how the past is interpreted, social constructs and the value of alternate presentation methods. The bibliography cites 11 sources.

J.M.W. Turner as the Epitome of Romantic Art
[ send me this paper ]
This 10 page report discusses the work of the 19th century British painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) and the fact that his work serves as a consummate example of what Romanticism in art was and is. Instead of simply recording what he saw before him, Turner was able to translate the scenes he painted into light-filled expressions of his own romantic feelings. In other words, he expressed what is the most fundamental aspect of Romanticism -- showing the sublime in what might be thought of as ordinary. One critic of this age has referred to Turner’s work as “music in paint.” Bibliography lists 6 sources.

Manifesto As Art
[ send me this paper ]
In the art world there have been many movements that have aligned themselves with particular philosophies and, or, methods of interpretation for their art. Among these movements are the futurists, the Dada and the (early) surrealist movements that have distinguished themselves with providing a manifesto of their intentions and beliefs. This 6 page paper argues that manifestoes are, in and of themselves, art objects that transcend the merely didactic and enter into the realm of poetry or visual art, as well as providing arguments for their beliefs. The Dadaist Manifesto by Tristan Tzara, Andre Breton's The Manifesto of Surrealism and F. T. Marinetti's, Foundation and Manifesto of Futurism are used as examples. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
