Ancient Forms - New Designs. [ send
me this paper ] (5 pp). Classic shapes or forms often repeat
themselves throughout various cultures. The structural column, the dome,
and the circle may be used in the creation of sacred space, the
reflections of the ideal, and as representations of power. Each society
treats these symbols differently. This discussion will examine some of
those ancient forms, or symbols, plus a modern comparison. Bibliography

Ancient Turkish Writing System
[ send
me this paper ] 7 pages in length. As the fundamental basis of
myriad other languages that followed, ancient Turkish helped to lead the
way for other civilizations to cultivate their own language skills.
Incorporated into contemporary Turkish are the properties of the ancient
written and vocal components of what has now been classified as a lost
language. Along with the Sumerians, Elamites, Medes, Scythians, Hittites,
Phrygians, Lydians, Trojans, Etruscans and Arameans, ancient Turkish -- as
it was in the very beginning -- is nothing but a memory in today's world,
having left a tremendous legacy behind its cultural contribution. The
writer discusses ancient Turkish in relation to writing and language.

Art: An Integral Component of Human Expression
[ send
me this paper ] A 15 page discussion of the many different
variations which exist in art between culture and time periods. From the
most primitive aspects of our history we have created and with our
creations we have made impressions on others. Indeed, many of these
impressions have survived the ravages of time to make impressions even on
contemporary society. The author of this paper emphasizes that art is
about perception. Whichever format it takes, that which touches and moves
its audience it indeed true art. Bibliography lists 12 sources. Filename: PPartTru.rtf
Artful Definitions of the Minoan Society
[ send
me this paper ] (6 pp). When we try to investigate Minoan society
we encounter a number of problems regarding the evidence. Because the
climate is frequently wet, most of the perishable evidence has disappeared
with the weather. This makes it hard to construct a picture of Minoan
society. We have some knowledge about Minoan people, of course, but this
is very fragmentary: only little aspects of the Minoan social life are
ever revealed at one time, mainly because the written materials are so
few, and because scholars can read only a very little of this written
evidence. Yet, it appears from their archeological art, that the Minoans
as a society were much more advanced than others of their time.

Artful Definitions of the Minoan Society
[ send
me this paper ] (6 pp). When we try to investigate the Minoan
society we are immediately hampered by the lack of physical evidence.
Being a costal area leads to erosion and decay just because of climate. We
have some fragmentary knowledge about Minoan people, but that must be
gleaned from artifacts, since little remains of written documents. Yet, it
this case visual art gives us the message that the Minoans as a society
were much more advanced than others of their time. Bibliography lists 5

Chaco National Park. [
send
me this paper ] (10 pp) This discussion centers around a student
based assignment to present a problem and/or a controversial subject to an
educated audience. The issue and its history needs to be defined; the
problem analyzed; debate presented how to resolve the problem; and
potential solution to the problem. Although this was developed as a
student initiative, the concerns around Chaco Canyon National Park and
World Heritage Center are real. Bibliography lists 11 sources. Filename: BBchacoF.doc
